Heron in Boboli Gardens
$8.00 – $500.00
12″x9″ uart paper with soft pastels and many pastel pencils, unframed
On the other bank of the Arno River in Florence, Italy (known as the ‘Oltrearno’) behind the Pitti Palace is the famous garden, Il Giardino di Boboli. There are winding paths with many statues, trees, and plants. The main path will take you to the large pond surrounded by trees and bushes.
In the middle is a large flat oval structure, the Isolotto, with statues, potted plants, and the Fountain of the Ocean in the center. In the surrounding moat, there are statues of Perseus and Andromedae (school of Giambologna).
In my walk around the large pond, I found a blue heron, who must have been used to people since it did not fly off but looked curiously at us all.
