Reflections, Riverside CA

Last year (Fall, 2019)I signed up for an evening course in pastel painting, a medium I had never tried before.

It is certainly a different medium than oil, and the biggest adjustment is getting used to the different color palettes available.

I then attended an afternoon workshop in Riverside, California, overseen by Ada Passaro, a member of Plein Air Artists of Riverside [PAAR]. The subject was reflections in water, and the painting is based on a photograph she took and made available. I was intrigued by the large area of reflection in the water; when others view the piece, they often look at it upside down first.
