Ninfee (Italian for waterlilies) was derived from seeing lily pads on a pool at the Huntington Library and Gardens. Frequent visits here produce colorful photographs and continuing inspiration.
Living in Southern California, one of my great pleasures is visiting the Huntington Library with my friends. The extensive grounds are filled with marvelous trees, flowers, and shrubs, which all make excellent reference points or subjects for drawing or painting later.
Additionally, one finds numerous buildings filled with art and exhibits, including some of the most famous: The Blue Boy by Gainsborough; “Pinkie’ by Thomas Lawrence; the Gutenberg Bible; Audubon’s book of birds; and, Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, just to mention a few.
